High-Density Urethane (HDU) is a closed-cell sign foam that won’t absorb water, warp, rot, or split. It carves cleanly for deep 3D detail, is lighter than wood or metal, and is ideal for long-term outdoor use.
Yes. HDU is weatherproof and dimensionally stable. We finish it with professional automotive-grade urethane coatings for UV, moisture, and temperature resistance. It’s built for years of exterior use in all climates.
Typical options include:
• Wall: stud-mount with pattern, or a French/Z-bar cleat.
• Posts: through-bolts to wood/metal posts or a framed panel.
• Eye hooks for suspended or double sided mount.
You can clean the sign occasionally with mild soap and water; avoid harsh solvents and pressure-washing at close range. We stand behind our materials and craftsmanship with a robust warranty, and HDU finishes are designed for long-term durability. Touch-up paint can be provided upon request.
Most Carved Signs projects ship in 3 – 4 weeks after proof approval. Complex finishes (eg. gold leaf) or artwork can add time. If you have a deadline, tell us and we’ll confirm if its possible with the current production schedule.
